WRPA Design Evaluation – New Castle, Delaware

Because this project site was primarily located within a Water Resource Protection Area (WRPA), New Castle County required supplemental recharge to permit development of more than 20 percent of the area within the WRPA with impervious surfaces. Ten Bears completed an evaluation for design of supplemental recharge of stormwater captured from roof drains. Although an initial feasibility study identified extremely poor subsurface soil conditions, through follow-up groundwater investigation and mounding analysis, Ten Bears was able to demonstrate to the County’s Resource Protection Area Technical Advisory Committee (RPTAC) that the design would meet their criteria.
